Cane

Cane Form #

Ready stance is right foot forward, cane tip just inside right foot, cane in right hand, left hand at belt.

  1. Lift cane to left and grab near middle with left to block left with right foot in cat stance. Turn cane over and block right bringing left foot into cat stance. Step forward with left, straight long poke, [kiup].

  2. Look to the right back, extend hook of cane behind your right side while stepping behind with your left. Turn the cane over to yout left side while sweeping back with your right leg.

  3. Twist to the right bringing the cane tip up (under attacker’s chin). Keep turning to 3/4, step out with right foot and strike at groin level with the cane hook. Arms straight. Note: keep cane close to your body when doing the uppercut. Bump into attacker to distract before groin strike.

  4. Stepping out with the left foot, straight poke to the back, slide left foot back halfway, flail down, park under arm, step forward left, left punch.

  5. Stepping out with right, 1/2 turn right, back hand flail with cane (2X), park under arm. Step forward left, left 2-finger spear hand (together) strike to the throat or eyes.

  6. Bring cane up, grab near the middle with left hand, block right, Left foot comes in, then goes forward, poke + kiup.

  7. Step forward right, bring hook up (chin strike), keep turning to left 3/4, end in horse stance, striking groin with tip of cane.

  8. Right 1/4 turn to the back, bring cane up in a block, shift right grip down below hook. Keep turning, stepping out left, then right to face front. Flail down with cane, shifting right foot back. Grab middle again with left, block, fowrard strike.

  9. Right foot comes together with left, high block to left, swing low (to knees) moving left foot back, low forward strike with hook.

  10. Left foot moves up behind right, uppercut, rotate tip, slide back right foot slightly, step forward with left, forward strike.

  11. Turn upper body so that you are looking over left shoulder. Bring back foot in, extend cane back in a strike. Turn right while flailing cane to face rear, park cane under arm, two finger (separated) spear hand to eyes.

  12. Bring cane across body to left hand, forward strike.

  13. Swing hook to strike neck area, right front kick, pull down at a diagonal, ending in back stance.

  14. Bring back foot up, bring cane tip up (uppercut), circle, step forward with left, downward strike with hook.

  15. Turn 180 degrees to right, stepping out with right. Flail backhand, then do a second strike and park cane. End with two finger (together) spear hand to the eyes.

  16. Bring cane across body to left hand, strike forward [kiup].

  17. Block left (right cat stance), block right (left cat stance), forward strike.

  18. Turn 180 degrees to the right stepping out right, bringing cane up in a block. Continue turning with left step and raise left hand in high block. Flail cane backhand, then do another strike. Bring right foot back bending knee, then lunge forward with strike to head or neck [kiup].

Finish by catching hook in your right hand, flailing the cane to end up under your arm, stepping forward. Left hand makes a fist low in front.

Note: Keep arm straight when you have the cane parked under your arm.
